'Since beginning in 1982, Calugi e Giannelli has invented and reinvented clothing — menswear in particular—as if it were conceptual art... As playful as the Milanese Franco Moschino and as avant-gardist at the Parisian Jean-Paul Gaultier, Calugi e Giannelli's erudite conceptualism is accompanied by an equally strong sense of sensuality.' - Taken from the Encyclopedia of Fashion. Unfortunately Calugi e Giannielli were too ahead of their time and so their business shut down due to financial difficulties - especially due to their focus being on menswear who weren't ready for their edgy, fashion forward designs.
